Enlexica Announces Free Online Baseball Dictionary
SANTA BARBARA, Ca. – Oct. 18, 2002. Enlexica, Inc. today announced the release of a comprehensive online baseball dictionary at www.enlexica.com. The dictionary, with over 5,000 baseball terms, was developed as a free resource for writers, students and fans of the game.
In addition to typing in a word and searching the dictionary, Enlexica offers a unique thesaurus that lets users see related terms without having to look them up. Users are presented with an initial screen displaying over 80 baseball-related subjects, like “Batting Mechanics”, “Breaking Pitches”, and “Ground Balls”. Clicking on a subject displays a page with the words related to that subject. For example, clicking on the Ground Balls page displays over 90 words to describe a ground ball, broken into smaller sub-headings like “bunt”, “bouncer”, or “tap”. When a user points to a word on a page, a box pops up that displays a definition and synonyms. Some terms include examples of usage.
The Enlexica concept was developed in response to the need for a word resource that combines a dictionary and thesaurus into one useful tool. Instead of the usual way of using a dictionary and thesaurus separately, Enlexica lets you see related terms and immediately see their meaning simply by pointing to them. “Enlexica is the type of product that really harnesses the power of a personal computer instead of just trying to duplicate what’s already in a book,” according to Enlexica’s President, Roy Kuklinsky. He added, “Students of the game of baseball can examine a subject like ‘Running & Sliding’ and learn all the terms used to describe a slide – in effect combining a dictionary with an encyclopedia.”
Enlexica, Inc. is a California Corporation located in Santa Barbara, California. The company was founded in 2000 for the purpose of developing dictionary/thesaurus software for specific subjects.
